Following is Maryse’s report:
On Friday, January 29, 2010, a group of 8 traveled to Santo Domingo. While in the DR we traveled by bus for 9 hours from Santo Domingo to Haiti. All eight stayed at my brother’s house in Freres. Dr. Wilkens and his wife, Dr. Nadege Narcisse, met us in Haiti. In the drive through the city, our group saw that most buildings that were still standing were severely damaged if not completely demolished. People walked the streets in search of food and loved ones. People desperately need tents, food, purified water and clothing. People are sleeping in big open courtyards under tents. Almost everyone in the capital sleeps outdoors, whether or not they have tents.
This was our schedule for the week:
We ran out of medication on the third day. University Miami Hospital and Sean Penn’s organization donated some medication to us. We treated wounded patients, administered IV to children with dehydration, patients with palpitations, cold, rash, etc. We gave hygiene supplies and food to all
of our patients. We also gave cash to people in Port au Prince and Leogane.
CENSHOP Hospital is in desperate need of medication and all types of supplies. Currently there is only one IV pole for the entire first floor. There is only one bed in the lobby. Pharmacy shelves with few items.
A mother and father came with their 9 yr old son who was severely dehydrated. Despite the lack of medication and supplies, we were able to administer an IV and stabilize him.
We treated a total of 1300 + patients during our stay.

The Providence TSETSE Gallery held its opening gala on January 26, 2010. This gala was a massive fund raiser for Haitian Relief. All sales of Catholic mission and Crosby mission’s art items went directly to Haitian Relief through Arm2Arm. The opening also featured a number of excellent local artists who agreed to donate half of all proceeds to Haitian Relief, plus the gallery donated all commissions earned that night as well.
This was a memorable and wonderful night for Arm2Arm and Haitian Relief. Everyone truly enjoyed the beautiful artwork and fellowship.
Arm2Arm wants to express a tremendous amount of gratitude to both the staff and the mayor for making is such a special and successful evening. THANK YOU!

On behalf of Arm2Arm Inc., we would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for your continuous support of our missions.
In July, 2009, we treated a total a 674 patients, and distributed 150 bags of rice and beans, clothes, brushes, toothpastes, flip flops and school supplies. And thanks to the Glastonbury team, we now have tables, bookcases, and desk for our school!
